I recent Fan requests several times a day for various pages. Some I become fans of, some I don’t. Sometimes though, I think I might want to become a fan of something, but I can’t quite figure out what it’s all about because the information isn’t there. Here’s an example and some ideas for improvement. I received a request today to become a fan of Eternity Wireless. At first I thought it may be a new regional wireless carrier or something, but after looking, I still couldn’t tell what it was. There were some photos posted showing packaging for troops overseas, which I thought was great, but it made me think that perhaps it was a non-profit organization. After squinting at the logo, I noticed their web address, and figured out that it’s a wireless accessory store.

The moral of the story is–I couldn’t easily identify what Eternity Wireless is or does from their Facebook Page. This is an opportunity in many Pages I visit. If I were Eternity Wireless, here’s what I would do:

1. Make use of the “Write Something About Yourself” box. Over on the left side of the Facebook Page (for administrators) is a box that says “write something about yourself.” It lets you key in a quick description of your business and what it’s about. It’s the first place many look if they don’t recognize the business.

2. Add your URL(s) to the Info tab. The Info tab allows you to enter in several key pieces of information about your business. One of the items you can include is your website address. That’s the second place I go to find out more about a business.

3. Make more use of the Wall. Once I saw those Benefit For The Troops photos, I wanted to know more about what was going on with that, since one of our own is in the service. The Wall would be a great place to tell folks exactly what’s going on and even how to contribute to what seems to be a great cause.

This post isn’t meant to be a slight to Eternity Wireless in the least. I applaud them for engaging in social media and l hope this post might provide some ideas for them and others who have Facebook Pages with similar easily addressable opportunities.

What about you? Have you seen some great Facebook Pages? What made them great? We look forward to your thoughts in the comments…
